We Get By With A Little Help... 🙂
Thank you for taking the time to visit our website and read our story!
We are Johnna and Jimmy, owner/operator of Wabi Sabi Farm. We both grew up in families of farmers and fisherman. Given our upbringing, it is probably no surprise that when starting a family of our own, we would eventually follow the same path. Now, for over 15 years we have been growing strawberries and vegetables, learning how and what to farm, and feeling very blessed to have had this opportunity with each other and our children.
Nonetheless, what we gradually came to understand through experience a few years ago was that with our acreage, we weren’t big enough to maintain, much less grow as the kind of small family farm we had first envisioned. Our intention has always been – and will always be – to farm as much in accord with nature as is possible. Part of running the farm sustainably and organically as possible is that we need to regularly rotate crops and fields for the plants to grow strong and healthy. Yet due to our size, because we needed every square inch to grow every year, we could not do this.
It was heartbreaking to realize that our options were limited, and we’d begun questioning our farms future.
That’s when we got a life line.
This past summer the neighboring farmland was offered to us – with one caveat, a three day deadline to make the purchase. This land was originally part of the same farm, divided about 50 years ago. Unexpectedly presented with this opportunity to reconnect with the remaining piece of the original farm we wasted no time, using any and every means we had and could find to scrape together the capital needed, and we just did make it in time…
We put the farm back together!
Now we’re here, and though we find ourselves financially out on the proverbial limb, we believe that eventually it will be well worth the bit of belt tightening and hard work we’ve committed to to make this dream become a reality for ourselves, our family, and our community.
Our plan is to continue and expand as an environmentally sensitive, semi-regenerative vegetable and fruit farm for years to come. This will be accomplished by using cover crops, crop rotation, integrated pest management and many more practices. There is nothing easy or cheap about this, but it is doable. We fully understand the effort and monetary input necessary. This is what we’ve done for 15 years and we will use the knowledge we have gained to make this new land viable with rich, productive, and fertile soil which can produce tens of thousands of pounds of fruit and vegetables annually for our local community.
We feel that what we are providing is an asset to Cordesville and the greater surrounding community. Wabi Sabi Farm is a quiet natural area, a place to bring family for a picnic, purchase fresh produce, or host an event of a lifetime. We welcome you to visit when you need a place to unwind, hear nature and connect with family and friends. We will be here in years to come, and are excited, hopeful and dedicated in this journey we are now blessed to be continuing.
We appreciate you, our community, as we move into expanding our stewardship of Wabi Sabi Farm. This is directly due in no small part to your enthusiasm that you have shared with us, both online and in person about what we are doing, that makes us feel it will be more than worthwhile to continue.
If you appreciate and share our vision for Wabi Sabi Farm and would also like to help financially support us in our journey, we humbly accept and appreciate any amount. As suggested to us by several supporters, we’ve set up accounts which make it easy for folks to do so.
‘Buy Us A Coffee’ is great for one-time use; while ‘Patreon’ is better for monthly/ongoing support.
Thank you, all of you, for supporting us in any and every way you have.
It really does mean the world to us –

How Can You Help?
If you would like to make a helpful donation, for your convenience we’ve set up two ways to do so.
The first is via “Buy Me A Coffee”.
This is an easy way to contribute a one-time or a set amount whenever you would like, and if you choose this we would like you to know that there is no end to how much we appreciate your generosity and support towards making Wabi Sabi a successful part of our community!
The second method is via Patreon.
Pateon is where you can become a recurring, long term supporter of Wabi Sabi Farm, through monthly payments as small as $5. Supporting us in this manner will come with benefits – like discounts on Greenhouse dinner events, and Wabi Sabi merchandise (coming soon!), and advance notice of special events and other happenings here on the farm.
